Trees have been revered and worshiped by many cultures, considering some of them sacred. The oak was considered by the Celts as the father of magical trees. The life of Celtic men and women was intimately related to the forests, these provided them protection, shelter, firewood to feed their bonfires and they were supplied with game and fruits necessary for their nourishment.

The oak is constituted as a natural lightning rod, since it has, together with the holm oak, the property of attracting the rays and diverting them to the ground. On its branches grew a parasitic plant known as mistletoe. This civilization thought that mistletoe was magical and that it grew when lightning had pierced an oak tree. This variety of tree represented strength and durability, traditional values such as truth, longevity, and loyalty.
